The main storyline of the show revolves around the life of John Nolan. Nolan is a middle-aged man from Pennsylvania. He has been divorced very recently. He used to own a construction company back at home. John has a son who is in college. After getting involved with solving a bank robbery and helping the police, John seeks a thrill in his life. He decides to give up his business and enter the police department in Los Angeles, California. Inevitably, the oxymoron – the oldest rookie, fits him right. The rest of the show focuses on following his new life at his new job in a new city. Moreover, it is about the fact that he chose to do something in his mid-forties after having lived a completely different life for more than half his life. The question now is how will John fit into the big shoes of a police officer and do proper justice to his uniform.
The Rookie Season 3 Episode 11: What to Expect?
The Rookie Season 3 Episode 11 is called ‘New Blood’. Here we will see John Nolan frivolously looking for a potential stalker. This comes after somebody smashed one of the windows from Professor Fiona Ryan’s car. The case takes a serious turn after the Professor also finds a series of mysterious notes left for her. Professor Nolan will volunteer to guard her house at night because, and quite evidently so, Fiona Ryder has lost her sleep over the knife that hangs over her life now. Tim’s behaviour towards Lucy will also change significantly in this episode. However, it is not clear why exactly this happens. It could be one of these two reasons – either he is trying to adapt to a new style of teaching, or he is changing his patterns of behaviour for his feelings towards her.

Here we see Nolan alone in the Police Academy since Officers Chen and West are busy completing their police training. Ben is John Nolan’s best friend. He is visiting Los Angeles to celebrate with Nolan who, he thinks, has been promoted. However, when John confronts him and tells him the truth, Ben decides to instead make his visit count by celebrating Nolan’s son’s, Henry’s, recruitment under himself. Nolan is scared that his son might end up making the same mistakes he made in the past. However, he doesn’t have much time to ponder over this as he is hurriedly called into the site of a bank robbery. Harper goes there with him. A person who goes by the name of Cooper Hicks is responsible for this robbery and he has two hostages with him. While Nolan tries to make him surrender, Cooper Hicks is shot. Later when Nolan and Harper visit his house, they realise that Cooper’s family has been missing for a while. After a little bit of investigation, they find that Hick’s wife and daughter have been kidnapped. The abductors wanted money but Cooper had gone bankrupt. The only way to come out of the situation was for Alice to rob a bank. Nolan stops her at the right time and then they got to rescue her daughter. The kidnappers are then arrested.
